Here in Spain there are only a handful of well-known Italian wines. But Italy has a wide variety of wonderful, inexpensive wines to choose from - each with its own unique character.
We explored not only wines but some of foods many of us had not tried before. Luca, our host & owner of Le Regione d’Italia, put together a selection of four regional wines paired with foods from Piemonte, Lombardia and Veneto in Northern Italy.
Throughout the evening we tasted:
- Risotto ai funghi porcini
- Polenta con gorgonzola
- Grana Padano with sweet and spicy sauces
- Tomino hot with speck
- Grissini Piemontesi
- Wines: Gavi Docg white & Barbera Doc from Piemonte and Lombardia, Soave White Doc and Valpolicella Doc from Veneto
- Grappa Invecchiata en barrique gambarotta di Emilia Romagna
